The Mothership 8 is Sierra Designs proven base camp tent for small to medium expeditions. It's stout enough to live on a glacier for months and spacious enough to keep everyone sane. If you need one tent for your group that will last for as long as you need it to, look no further. The Mothership 8 achieves incredible durability in heavy weather by using DAC DA-17 aluminum poles with Clip LocsTM to keep the poles from rotating, and therefore collapsing the tent, in heavy winds and snow. The tent is attached to the poles using a combination of Clip LocsTM, locking pole tips, and grommet pole attachments. The rain fly comes with snow flaps so you can keep spin drift and wind out of the tent and the seams are fully taped using PVC free tape while also employing Interlocs, which attach the rainfly directly to the tent. Once inside, the seam taped bathtub floor will keep water out up to 5000mm of pressure while the vent on top will let you regulate temperature. The Mothership 8 also has hanging pockets to keep gear organized and a window on the front for some light to come in. All four doors allow for easy access and exit with their D-shaped design.
